Clever Little Monkey recently had a blast teaming up with the talented, Ilze Louw to create a room makeover for baby David. Ilze has been collaborating with Clever Little Monkey on various product shoots and room makeovers over the past year and so we were honoured to do this photoshoot with her very own beautiful baby boy.
Apart from sourcing and designing quality products and advising parents on the best buys for their needs, we absolutely love revamping children’s rooms. The room makeover for little David was built around Ilze’s remarkable vintage cot which is over 50 years old! We had so much fun pairing it with 3 different looks to showcase how various styles can compliment an antique focal piece.
We understand that most parents want their kids’ room to be versatile as their children develop through different stages; another reason for designing the three different looks for this little one’s sacred space. A helpful tip we like to give parents is that you don’t always need to do a complete overhaul when it comes to revamping and redecorating. Sure, it’s great to start fresh with an entirely new matching bedroom set but in some cases it’s all about combining what you already have and adding something new to compliment the space. With the room makeover for baby David, we did exactly that, combining the old with the new to create an eclectic and magnificently cozy baby room.
Look 1: Let’s Go On An Adventure
The first look was inspired by our ‘Adventure’ theme fresh from the recent Winter Catalogue. The toasty wood tones of the vintage cot paired beautifully with the warm mustard, natural twill and denim fabric combinations of the Adventure scatters. We just love David’s personal photo shoot with his new little Fox friend. But who says you can’t mix and match in such a stunning environment? So alongside the Fox and Raccoon scatter pillows we brought in our Little Amsterdam scatters to enhance the room’s snug feel. Another main feature in this interior is the 100 % cotton machine washable Cars Rug by Lorena Canals to add a cushy element whilst still reminding one that this is a design for a boy’s room.
Look 2: Be Brave Little One
With all the gorgeous monotone looks doing the rounds on Pinterest we thought our ‘Rebel’ range would look equally elegant in David’s room. Ideal for a little boy, the products selected here are modern, yet edgy and inspiringly unique. We absolutely adore the striking, friendly Panda Scatter Pillow that will entertain during wakeful hours whilst the Cloud Scatter Pillow will escort David straight to dreamland every night. The “Be Brave” black and white print is also a must have for this look. The ‘Rebel’ cot set also includes a cot bumper, fitted sheet and duvet cover.
Look 3: Something Hand-made by Grandma
Grandma’s score top place when it comes to hand-made-with-love soft furnishings. Because we just can’t get enough of the custom bedding that Baby David’s grandmother made, it takes first place as the main feature of our combination look. We wanted to extend the soft elements so we added accessories that bring out the colour and textures of the rest of David’s room.
Baby David is one lucky boy, and because this look is so versatile, Mom and Dad would be able to mix and match the magical room to transform and develop alongside baby David. Let us know which ‘look’ is your favourite and which items you’d love to include in your little one’s room.
